Cheese Please!

5 Meat & Cheese Board Ideas
When I look back over the ridiculous amounts of food pictures I have accumulated I see a distinct pattern… cheese and meat boards. If it looks like if it is pop-able in a few bites I am in! We even make them at home when we want a quick little nibble.
I love that I can create a different little bite based off what is offered on the board. Switch it up with a bite of tasty, salty prosciutto mixed with some pungent manchego and its one flavor sensation. The next bite could be switched up with a beautifully sliced serrano ham, a smear of creamy brie and a sweet drizzle of honey. To me, ALL OF IT IS GOOD!

It is very easy to enjoy this at home with just a few simple

If we are going to create a quick bit at home, I follow these simple tricks:

1. Different meat selections

I like to have at least 2 varieties on my board. Pair a creamy paté with salty ham or fatty salami. I like the contrast between the 2 textures that give a different mouth feel with each bite.

2. Cheese Selection

I use the same philosophy when it comes to cheese. Pair a creamy brie or triple cream with a gorgeous cheddar or get funky and go with a pungent blue! I like 3 different cheese selections to go with my meat on the board.

3. Pickle-y & Brine-y Items

Yes, I said pickle-y and brine-y, they are words now. Any pickled veg can give that nice pop to cut through some of the creamy cheese and the fattiness of the rich meat. Marinated mushrooms, pickles, olives, giardiniera, all of these are great addition to your board.

4. Condiments

Just a touch of jam, some fig spread, or a drizzle of honey can take your little bit from drab to fab in an instant. We always have local honey on hand at home (think bad seasonal allergies). I put it in a tiny dish with a mini spreader and I left it drizzle across the entire bite. That little finish of sweet really does the trick.

5. Bubbles!

What better way to celebrate your new creation but with a quick finish of bubbles? Champagne, Cava, Prosecco or even sparkling apple or grape juice. I find the combination to be delightful.

Have fun, get creative and enjoy your new meat and cheese board!
